Jugs

Throughout East and Central Africa, jugs are typically used to store milk. What's fascinating about their design is that, although many jugs feature striking metal pieces forming a strip along the exterior, these were not part of the original design. Strips of metal were added to some jugs later, after significant use, to prevent leaks and preserve the item. The metal adds a beautiful design aesthetic, and although it was not part of the artisans' original design, it enhances the piece and highlights its use and age.
